Three has the same powers as the Paladin, so his inability to harm other contestants is a pretty large handicap...
Technically the rule is against killing. not harming. Maiming should be allowed as long as they are stabilized afterward or survive at least till the would-be killer can bring the person to a checkered floor. Three could probably just wrap somebody in his limbs and bring them over to one of these rooms.
