For those people who like speculating on what happened, it's Noah's power but the elf (Detlef) had something to do with everything that transpired. I'm sure that must eliminate at least one or two hypotheticals.

I don't think that Noah said that because it was the only logical conclusion left, but rather because it was the thing that was least likely to actually have occurred to him, in his opinion.
Actually, the twist is that the entire elf attack never happened. Noah, you've been inside the Emperor's Hair all along.

I knew rereading was a good idea.
This was the moment I started liking Noah's arc; miss Office Assistant here is among my favorite characters, right up with Three and Pablo
