There is no interpretation of this series of events that isn’t alarming.
Best case: This is hallucinations caused by Black Crystal exposure.
Second to Best Case: This is the compromised employee we’ve read about, who is here as a warning.
Mid-Tier Case: There’s a killer ghoul running around the Maze who killed an employee who was unlucky enough to be caught in the maze at work.
Close-to-Worst-Case: That killer is not a ghoul but one of the other players
The Absolute Worst Case: Whoever’s killing, they’re good enough at it that the people running this experiment have lost control.
Mind you, the people running this experiement are amoral at best and monstriously atrocious at worst, but if there’s no longer any framework for order or rules at all, then this game’s turned into just a horror movie scenario in it’s entirety and anyone could die at any moment.

The true experiment is what happens when abnormal people are exposed to black crystal, I bet.

Tbh If I had to think of the worst case itd be that the ghouls who took Tobi to the game proceeded to take over the game...
