If Jay-Jay wasn't lying back then (to get Shalhia personally invested in her survival -- since J *is* a magic user, she is a person that a Paladin is allowed to kill, after all) then it's unsafe for her to attack her potential soul mate.

Agreed you can't just place an item between you and the floor, but there's an argument to be made that the egg is the Paladin's body. Does standing on another contestant who's standing on the tiles count? A little more ambiguous.
I think the egg is just for security, but it's an interesting thought.

@Commander Dulton All of the neutral voters (Fox, Blue Anchor Dude, Smile) have been missing since the Apples and Oranges event. Since Shalhia (who is a saboteur) gained points somehow, it's possible one or all have died.
It's a bit weird no one in the comic has commented on that. You'd think at least one would notice.

@Dubu: they're not. The paladin has summoned pod soldiers (page 986), a spear (988, 999), a lamp (1007), a lasso (1161), and various other things that are not part of a bird as far as I know.
