Curious: Old aptGG Readers
I was sorta going over comments from my old pre-reboot comic, reliving the nostalgic sadness of it dying and people in the comment box rueing its demise.
I'm just morbidly curious, how many of you guys are actually here from the old days/old comic?
Did you expect HoH to come back the way it did after the mega-hiatus over my summer holiday?
First security question is so simple, that I expect it to be s trick. Maybe it is always double. Or prime numbers (and you don't know 1 is not prime)
Second, I stop reading for a while (I think years) and started again recently. So I think I may not be relevant for that question.Especially since I stopped because I lost the bookmark. Now I follow via rss.
Third thanks for all the pixels
I did read the pre reboot comic. As for what I expected, to be honest I don't remember.
I never saw the original I just found the current after some exploring of top webcomics online
Iā€™m a new reader
I found you initially on DeviantArt, then started following your comic. I loved it from the get go, and was super sad when it went on hiatus. I didn't really expect it to come back, but I'm glad it did!
I did read the old comic and I was very pleasantly surprised when the reboot happened.
I am! Didnā€™t expect it to come back at all but glad it did.
I've been here since A Path to Greater Good!
And I've seen too many webcomics go on hiatus and never come back to have expected this one to buck the trend, but I'm glad it did.
I dunno. I didn't find out about your comic until after the reboot.
I've been here since before page 50 of the original. Was a follower on Deviantart for some time too. Never expected it to come back, but I'm so glad it did!
Found the comic after reboot, on an another webcomic forum
Joined in sometime close to the end of the old, pleasantly surprised by the reboot/remaster.
I've been here for a while. I remember a few style changes in the previous comic (Path the the greater goood, I think it was called?), and Noah's redesign. I definitely didn't expect the comic to come back after the hiatus, but I'm very happy it did!
Proud to be an OG fan. Super happy that you came back to it.
I was a bit weirded out by the change in art style, but it grew on me.
I'm of mixed feelings with some changes. Tobi living in video-game world I found very jarring at first (but very cool concept).
Noah being a lame kid, comparing to Lelouch-Noah before, is tough on me, but I do love his arc and cast.
Followed APtGG in High School, checked in on it after falling off webcomics for a few years to find it had rebooted as HoH! It was a pleasant surprise, most of the other comics I used to read merely died.
I've been a reader for about 2 years now.
The return was a welcome surprise, but I didn't expect a reboot after the long hiatus.
I am indeed here since before the reboot.
I didn't expect it to return, and I was initially unnerved by the way it returned purely because it was not the same, but I think overall it is better now - it was more a personal adjustment to a shift in tone and style.
Burk is Burk, and if nothing else Burk is the one universal constant.
Tobi is a much more rich character this time, though, and Noah is much more interesting with the interplay between himself and Ciel instead of effectively being a Holmes-like savant. Even if I sometimes find Noah's utter lack of sense for self-preservation off-putting, I understand a flawed character is generally a more interesting character. ; )
Started back when it was a A Path to Greater Good... so long ago. Can barely remember. Keep up the fantastic work neorice!
i am here from before the reboot
i still remember blonde noah and how his intelligence beat veda.
but i don't remember much else.
where you on drunkduck at one time?
I was not here during APTGG, but I've been here long enough to have heard about it for some time.
I started reading before the reboot but didn't get very far, I rediscovered the comic later after the reboot and got fully invested then.
I started reading around page 50 of the new version, the quality and frequent updating is what's kept me around.
I don't get around to commenting anymore, but I'm still here from way back~ Still loving the comic, in all its versions!
Three, I mean... Long before Skype existed and Messenger was still thing. Tobi's story was near end around that time...
I showed up right after the first megachapter was complete for each character in this comic, but I eventually went back to read APTTGG. I do think new Noah and Tobi have a lot more going for them, narratively, than the previous version did.
I found this webcomic back when APTTGG was still new before Tobi left her world behind.
I think I'd found it through a forum?
This comic made me truly appreciate pixel art.
I started reading near the tail end of your old comic. I was disappointed when I saw that it was discontinued. I decided to randomly check the comic years later and to my delight saw that it was rebooted.
Been around since the beginning!
Forgot when exactly I started reading, but I'm pretty sure it was before the first of the many hiatuses that plagued APtGG.
It's pretty impressive that APtGG died before reaching 300 pages (several of which were filler) while HOH is now at 1856 pages and counting. And instead of hiatuses and filler, we get stretches of daily updates and even double-sized daily updates like currently!
I mean, most webcomics that go through a reboot end up dying again before they finished redrawing their second chapter... With this reboot you proved you knew what you were doing.
I am here since that time somehow... (thank you for making me feel old by the way...)
And no.. I never expected the reboot to catch up and I honestly stopped reading the comic for a good while right after the reboot happened (sorry xD). I'm glad that I was wrong about that one xD
I read the old comic and enjoyed it before it ended; I kept it in my RSS feed in case it ever restarted and picked up the new one when I rediscovered it.
I found Hero Oh Hero after it got to top 10 at TWC after some glitch. That was late in 2014, middle of the first Noah's chapter. Then I learned of APTGG from the forum. (What happened to it, by the way?)
What I liked about APTGG:
- Character portraits in dialogs.
- Noah.
- Pablo.
On the other hand, I'm glad painted backgrounds are gone, and every mention of Smile cult in the Noah's arc felt wrong.
I was overjoyed to see Pablo return in the reboot.
And seeing a webcomic come back and become more active after a long hiatus... I can recall only one other example: College Catastrophe.
Yep! I read the old comic and enjoyed it. I will admit i got frustrated when it became irregular and you just started posting just random things.
Your art is fantastic, the characters and story is interesting. Honestly, my only disliked part is the game show and stuff from Toby. It feels like its dragged on forever :(
I'm here from the old crew, though I fell out for a while when it went on hiatus. Also, I love the Tobi arc.
I think I started reading around the time Tobi escaped from Lorg. I got here thanks to TV Tropes, which is honestly how I pick most comics I read these days.
If the story sounds interesting, or if there's a hilarious situation mentioned that I feel the need to get context on, I'll start reading and see how I feel about the comic.
Been here since near the beginning, I think. I was pleasantly surprised when my RSS started updating again! I'm enjoying the new arcs, very much looking forward to seeing how they end up this time! The game show of death is fun.
I read APTGG back in the day, but I don't think I ever finished. Recently found out about the reboot and have been archive diving.
I read the old comic, and was sad to see it end, but I didn't know about the new one until much later, when someone linked to it on a forum, and when I clicked the link, I saw Burk. I think it was just before the fight with Ariara.
I definitely read the old one, but if I recall correctly, I found out about the reboot way later, through random happenstance.
It was one of several comics I liked that ended prematurely, and I'm extremely glad it didn't stay that way. It's one of my favourite things on the internet & I hope it goes one for many more years =)
Know I read the old one, were a bit bummed when it were discontinued as I really enjoyed it and wanted more.
Then much later I found out that you'd rebooted it as HoH and thought "Aw man, there's gonna be YEARS before this catches up to where aptGG left off :c"
So were trilled that you'd started making comics again, but a little discouraged knowing it might be a good while before we got into 'new' territory.
I started HOH sometime during the Burk v Aristocrat v Bandits arc in the village after finding you on TWC. I think it was actually shortly after Burk first lost his pants, I recall having to wait to see how the black (or maybe Indian? Hard to tell in Pixel Art) guard and his family were going to react to Burk showing up pantsless with a pig and no pressing desire for pants... Found out about APtGG and TOMRPG in the pg12XXs when it suddenly became a popular topic in the comments.
I was actually quite surprised about a year in when I realized you'd contributed to both Battle for Wesnoth and Frogatto - couldn't unsee it as soon as I found out but was also kinda embarrassed I hadn't found out about your comic through those, lol. (For reference, I finally started thinking about contributing to BfW shortly after roughly half the developers shifted to Frogatto and got put off by the lack of leadership...)
I think I found the old comic in the period before you started the reboot! I was so excited when the burk story finally caught back up to the castle heist arc!!
I started watching a while before you started the reboot, and was suuuuper into it for a long time, Noah was my favorite character back then, and honestly he's changed so much I don't feel this Noah is the same character. (Yeah, yeah, I'm a fanboy for needlessly 'oversmart' characters even if they aren't actually smart)
You said you intended to reboot, so I believed there were good odds of it being in your intentions, but I'd be lying if I said I expected it to happen, or to be on the same site. At the same time, unless you deleted the sprite sheets for the characters you made, I knew there'd always be some severe temptations to do it, so I got into a habit of checking up every week or so. Then, one day, wouldn'tchaknowit? Suddenly life! I was floored, but my first conviction was it was going to be a false start, and, well, it wasn't.
And here we are.
I read through the pre-reboot comic, but I did so *after* reading however much of this comic existed at the time (I think it was just the first couple chapters)
pre-reboot comic.
I read it preschool comic and thought wow you started early!!!!
Iā€™m a new reader, and although whenever I read some comments about references to the old comic, which makes me want to read it, I keep putting it off due to a fear of spoilers lol, but I do need to say Iā€™ve been loving this one.
I read APTGG after getting into this one. I liked the pacing on the old one better, it seemed faster. And there weren't as many 'answers that just make for more questions' moments. Liked the smile cult and old Noah better. Positives here though: this Burk is more fun, I think this Tobi is the end-all best character out of both versions, except perhaps intro Grandpa for HoH. Wouldn't mind him and his granddaughter showing up again. I like the HoH artstyle better. Overall my only complaint is the long cliffhanger jump-cuts. They're annoying when binging but are really painful when you cut away from an arc I'm invested in to Noah whining or Burk delaying his own story to screw around (I mean, it's fine he screws around. That's his thing. It's when it has seemingly no story effects that it bothers me) or Tobi... well, basically when Tobi's story has a scene she isn't in (or has no input on) when everyone speculates on things.
I only read APTGG after binging HOH.
I read APTGG first, lost track of your work for a very long time, and came back I think during the Mage Baronā€™s castle arc.
Given how many webcomics just fizzle out for one reason or another, Iā€™m always pleasantly surprised when they come back like HOH has.
@Worldbuilder, the new comic reached the point, where the old one ended, in 2016 (Burk: 678, Noah:600, Tobi:725). Although, at least 3 scenes never appeared: Garrimon's accomplice talking to Gaz, Eugene's debriefing, party before Null's lecture.
I loved the old comic.
I arrived at the tail end of APTGG. Took some time to get used to the new one, but I'm enjoying it more overall now. And I'm enjoying all the storylines, not just Burk's.
That said, APTGG 221 remains my favorite page in either comic.
I've been here the whole time, man. It's been really great to read the story since the hiatus, I'm really glad you were able to bring it together.
Been following since before the reboot. I liked the art change - I'd liked the art before, but after seeing the change, it seemed to me that this was what you really wanted the world to look like, and your skill level just wasn't there yet during APtGG.
Similarly with the story. With what I remember, without looking back at it, I get the impression that your plan for the story was much vaguer in APtGG. I'm guessing you had some ideas for important plot points, but no map to reach them. Now HoH is much stronger, clearly more planned, which makes it a lot more fun and interesting, and it's great how the three parts tie together so we can see where they're taking place in relation to each other. I really appreciate how hard you've worked to take the story to this level.
