I don't know why you would comment on Tobi's clothes. At this rate it's 3 who won't be wearing anything pretty soon. He's already lost a significant part of his side and sleeve. As well as a shoe.

There has always been one thing about regeneration that bugged me; Where does the mass come from? The zombie... thing isn't getting any thinner and it didn't eat its own hand or anything, where did the matter come from? You know what this comic is so bizarre questions like this are just useless.

Where is the zombie thing growing those arms FROM? conservation of mass is one of the most abused laws of physics... *sigh*

In it, one of the main characters is able to go backwards in time - however, unbeknownst to him, the mass required to do so is obtained by a large black hole expanding.

concerning the whole regeneration thing, normal healing happens by multiplying cells, so if that thing is anything like a tumor/cancer cell, it could theorectically grow indefinitely. and not to mention the fact that this story is fictional, given the fact that there are elves, magic, and living mannequins, that flesh thing could do whatever the hell it wants to.

cell growth does require energy & mass/matter; I don't think "anybody" wonders about -how- they do it, but rather how it can be done without somehow absorbing/eating the necessary matter required to do so.

It might be possible if the damage isn't too great. By relocating the other cells energy-stores and depleting structural tissue (like skeleton) of necessary minerals, fats and amino acids (and etc.).
Although you would be terribly weak afterwards and probably be seriously wounded by anything harder than a slight touch. (like "in-bed-for-weeks-eating-nourishing-gruel" situation
