I'm thinking that either Tobi is having a heck of time traveling on foot in the desert, night - or some other thing causing things to get dark - is coming along rather quickly, or I'm just misinterpreting distance covered in relation to the passage of time - it is a desert after all, so one stretch of sand is bound to look like another.

Otherwise, Tobi seems to issues with getting to any place of any note.
