Infinite is just a casual observer to this all.
That egg is part of the Paladin, isn't it?
The egg is made from symbiotic cells grafted to the Paladin. It's part of her but it also doesn't hurt her if they're destroyed.
My bet is the egg is harder than what Jay-Jay and Minxery expect.
Jay-Jay is a much bigger idiot than I thought.
What, she thinks the pally is going to walk away, not expecting an attack?
@Tom: Jay-Jay even announced the attack...
Perhaps Levin is right with his opinion about magic users ;)
Given what we've seen so far, the stronger ones really do seem to be a little thoughtless in their actions. Jay-Jay, Goldman, that Storm Pirate... There seems to be a certain amount of arrogance that comes with being a skilled magic user.
Something I noticed while rereading: Jay-Jay's hair were straight originally. They became curly in #1653, which isn't actually a real appearance of her but more of an illustration.
@Taran Alvein Makes sense. If you can win every fight without trying, you get in the habit of not trying.
That said, the Pirate of the Storm actually seemed like she worked very hard to be as powerful as she was. Yes, she acted arrogant, but she still bothered to learn spirit magic, and use a proper spirit shield against every attack that came her way.
The paladin is fully expecting that attack, its basically an invitation.
My guess is the paladin wants to flex a little, make the more dangerous people think twice about crossing her. And Minxery is the perfect punching bag to show off against, as its not a person that can die.
Ariara, the Pirate of the storm certainly feels like she earned her status.
She was beaten but even then, nobody actually beat her 1v1, she got worn down by attrition from fighting.
Actually I'd really love to see what would have happened if she joined the Smile game instead of another character. I think it would be really interesting. Or maybe she'd just tear up the whole game, hard to say just how strong the gamemakers and their prep is currently.
