Now we just need to figure out what "Soul Mate" means in Lorg.

So if one dies, the other dies?

one must die for the other to win, as they only have one soul to share.
they cannot move or target magic adjacent to each other.
their hearts start at half weight, but are each burdoned by the other's sins.
more likely: if one loses, so does the other. (possibly also applies to dying)

Since it's Lorg, I'm pretty sure it's a combination of "one has to die for other to win" and "when one dies, so does the other". Yes, that implies that they normally can't win at all.

Like I said: I'll ship them if I have to, and do I really have any choice after a line like that? Load the cargo, hoist the banners, chart our courses, rig the sails and weigh the anchor, mateys, we're sailin'!

I wouldn't be surprised if "Soul mate" was next to the "Mind rape" in Lorgian vocabulary.

Sharing everything might explain why they have the same role as well.
