Hero No Hero
44556: Mallory - Monday, November 18 2024 - 5:51 PM
Hahahaha called it!
44557: lololol - Monday, November 18 2024 - 7:39 PM
maybe the real hero of haven was the friends we made along the way...
44558: Whispers of Sorrow - Monday, November 18 2024 - 10:05 PM
This really does feel like someone's had lotus for breakfast. I mean, isn't this essentially *everything* he wanted, complete with pretty girls to be rude to? Rejecting those who rejected him... https://www.neorice.com/hoh_noah_483
44560: someone - Tuesday, November 19 2024 - 12:01 AM
@Whispers
Not really... He rejected these same girls in almost the same way at the beginning of Noah's arc. This is just a return to the usual.
44561: Gils - Tuesday, November 19 2024 - 12:55 AM
@lololol. You get an A for CRINGE! LMAO! The real hero was Daddy. I mean he took care of NOEL and company so so well :-)
44562: Joe - Tuesday, November 19 2024 - 1:18 AM
Damnit Noah
44563: Saiko - Tuesday, November 19 2024 - 1:27 AM
Isn't it the first time that any of HOH protagonists is publicly regarded as a hero?
44564: Tom - Tuesday, November 19 2024 - 2:44 AM
Noah continues the sigma male grindset by refusing thots on the spot. What a chad.
Seriously though, now we have another hero in the comic! One of the guards in Burk's first chapter called Burk a hero after he beat Alex and requested that he take care of the bandits.
44565: Flangan - Tuesday, November 19 2024 - 3:47 AM
@saiko
Birk is after fighting the first hero and savning the villagers from “small cute pigs”.
44566: XYXZZY - Tuesday, November 19 2024 - 4:12 AM
Well being crammed through about 20 hours of a literal waking nightmare probably permanently put him off just about everything.
Also reminder that his strangely egalitarian puritanical police state could randomly decide to liquidate him at any time, though i think the severe damage to the anti wizard security apparatus has put that on "immediate threat only"
44567: Eight - Tuesday, November 19 2024 - 5:26 AM
Noah isn't rejecting anyone, he just doesn't want to go to a social event, dance or whatever, and I called it: it is a nightmare.

Noah went from a bad nightmare to the worse nightmare

@Whispers and @someone
Yeah, I agree with someone. And I'll note that for Noah, a return to normal is not exactly a perfect world. Before the story, he was terribly alone, with no one he could trust, peer or parent, because he had poor social skills in an environment where people only valued him for what he could do for them, and he is the only one who seems to really understand how authoritarian the government really is (it's currently in a high approval rating, relatively stable period, it looks like). This is that, but worse, because of increased scrutiny on him and waiting for the other shoe to drop. I'm not 100% convinced this is real just because of the abrupt cut in a narrative with dream powers, but it's absolutely not anything I would compare to the lotus eaters.
@Saiko
I mean, Burk is chastised for unlicensed heroing, so I'd argue not!
44571: TaranAlvein - Tuesday, November 19 2024 - 7:11 AM
@Saiko - Burk has received some small acclaim here and there. The people of the village at the beginning of the story were pretty grateful to him.
44572: Saiko - Tuesday, November 19 2024 - 12:28 PM
So it remains to be seen if Noah is also officially regarded as a hero, by the Empire. That would be first for sure.
44573: Whispers of Sorrow - Tuesday, November 19 2024 - 2:15 PM
@someone: Well... yes. That's the point. This is things back to the old normal and a normal he'd wish for.
44574: tomtomy - Tuesday, November 19 2024 - 2:57 PM
His father must feel 100% vindicated in his decision to take custody if Noah, but I'm guessing we'll see if that's a good thing for Noah
44575: Darius Drake - Tuesday, November 19 2024 - 10:06 PM
@ Eight: I think it's more a case of Noah finding any form of direct contact with meat, be it living or dead, to be either creepy or disgusting, probably both. Direct human contact included, as we are made up of meat.
This also gives a reason for Noah to be a vegetarian. Even if he doesn't care about the animals, if he finds any contact with any sort of meat to be disturbing, that should include eating it. Thus he became vegetarian simply because of his dislike of direct contact.
@ Whispers of Sorrow: I don't think that this was Noah's Wish. Weren't two of Noah's Wishes traded off to the Grey Child to let him escape? Specifically including the one for when Noah enters Chernyl's mind? Back from the scene starting https://www.neorice.com/hoh_noah_2735.
...yes, I did check that purely to ensure I got the Nightmare in question's name correct. And I'm not even certain.
44576: Sporf - Tuesday, November 19 2024 - 10:16 PM
@Whispers of Sorrow. I don't think would wish for this. I don't think he enjoys rejecting them. I think what he would wish for is for them to not bother him at all.

July is my favorite side character.
44591: Welf - Wednesday, November 20 2024 - 12:06 PM
Heh, now I want Burk and Noah to meet, and meet soon.

"I did that once, it was really annoying."

@Darius Drake: Are we sure the Grey Child is a nightmare? Or that Windows actually made that wish specifically? Are we even sure the GC's wish was related to Chernyl and not some other her?
@Sporf: He was conflicted on the matter, as per page 483. He doesn't like being the one on the rejection end is my thought on that, more to the point, if these girls are being friendly again, his mother, who rejected him over the magic issue...
