I'm surprised the Empire doesn't utilise more espers, instead or in addition to Royal Guards. They aren't magic, they are anti-magic, wouldn't be against the rules, no?

@ Saiko- We dont know what the criteria is for becoming a royal guard, or if all espers are able to manipulate magic like Noel. What we do know is that the royal guard are trained from a very young age and that magical trauma during childhood can create an esper, so it’s possible that some or all royal guards are espers.

It seems like Empire is unaware of espers imo. They have a little education on topic of magic at all, they were sure the black crystals will let them deal with each of their magic problems with ease.

Garth, the magic teacher, was invited from another country to educate the kids for this operation, the Empire clearly didn't know what it is bing dragged into by their own crave of power
