While the JSP did mention earlier that they dimmed their lights & went quiet, it's also notable the spiders are primarily drawn to sound, so I'm sure they could just dim their light & keep walking.

The Theory so far is he's one of Chernyls Nightmares. NeoRice has spoiled most of the monsters they've used so far on the Mural from the Chapter start. Timmy has the Bowtie as the one on the bottom right.
Though I will say I truely hope Rat survives this. While yes he's a smuggler he at least he values peoples lives.
