Is he a fake'un?
29042: Z2 - Monday, December 13 2021 - 11:37 PM
Impressive how their "logic" went from
'our only option is to nuke the city'
through
'hmmm, our own magic users MIGHT provide an opportunity to avoid the worst!'
to
'EH WE CAN TAKE HER'
I feel like if you blew over the barrel of their guns and against their ears you'd get the same empty whistling noise both times.

I'll be honest, I firmly believe that this mission's chances of success would markedly improve if numbers one and two inadvertently fell of the roof. What good have they done so far?

It's his middle name!
Loving the story @neorice!
29046: Brilliand - Tuesday, December 14 2021 - 1:05 AM
@Whispers of Sorrow I'm pretty sure the death of both #1 and #2 would result in the city promptly being nuked. It's the only reason they need to be involved, but it's a pretty good one.

Time to dip. Let these useless guards die by their own devices.

The reasons Chernyl is doing all of this isnt to necessarily hurt anyone specifically but only to cause Noah's greatest nightmare become reality. Think about currently Noah is or has been:
Made to work with a group of people
Depended on
Having to do something
Being made to do physical exercise
Chucked away
Truly this is just Noah's personal nightmare world.
29049: Tom - Tuesday, December 14 2021 - 1:27 AM
Wow, these agents are trigger happy.
Every page seems to show how arrogant and/or clueless they are. Have they dealt with magic threats in the past at all?
29050: Some guy - Tuesday, December 14 2021 - 1:54 AM
@Brilliand
I don't think they have the bomb on their person, so only their deaths becoming known outside the group should result in that.
And the group has pretty good incentives to avoid letting anybody know.
29051: Kiithnaras - Tuesday, December 14 2021 - 2:07 AM
Noah here, ever living up to his (new) title: Mostly Useless. ; )
In all fairness, though, Noah is a self-absorbed shut-in kid, basically, and doesn't have the adventuring background of Tobi or the mysterious fighting prowess and heroic drive of BURK.
I feel as though if the comic were solely about Noah, the audience focus would be a lot more on how he grows and develops and his latent talents than comparing him to Burk and Tobi and other characters that are (presently) more capable and driven.
29052: Taorin - Tuesday, December 14 2021 - 2:14 AM
@random Two of the guards already have and no one noticed :D

Whoa there, maybe NOT do that? I mean, there are more people in Haven than just these two JSP officers; staying on mission isn't for the sake of the JSP's survival, it's for the sake of everyone else's.
29054: UnknownID - Tuesday, December 14 2021 - 4:26 AM
Woah, that was a close one. D: Good for Noah that #1 still sees him as a bit useful... But does this imply as soon as the mission is over, they want to execute Moah? :(
@Kiithnaras
Tbh I am never comparing the three main characters and I love the don't-want-to-but-is-forced-to-be-a-hero arc of Noah as much as the intense heroic arc of Burk. Can't really tell whom I like best.
Tobi is also truly loveable, but her arc is somehow a bit less interesting to me. Maybe because she is none extreme of her own, I don't know... ^^"
I like Noah for being the way he is. He totally doesn't want to be forced to do all this, just wants to stay inside and reads his books, but nevertheless, he tries to improve and helps the group the best he can. It's just that he needs to get used to and I really love to see him develop more and more.
Noah's arc is imho the arc with the best character developement in this comic. :)

Mildly useful Noah is definitely better than no Noah

Always look out for Number 1, and 2 I suppose, but he is a distant second.

Is it coincidence that the corner of the roof looks like a long, screaming AAAAAA?
29058: Zed - Tuesday, December 14 2021 - 12:11 PM
I am curious why "this mission hinging only on the survival of one of us" is what No.1 considers the most important aspect.
How does that relate to Chernyl's location being obvious? Why was her being hidden make a difference about one or both of them surviving? Curious for tomorrow's answer.
29059: Sporf - Tuesday, December 14 2021 - 4:53 PM
While the JSP officers are very clearly arrogant, I'm not sure why everyone is assuming they are incompetent. They very clearly have some method of neutralizing the target without Nail. So they do have some idea of what they are doing. That's also the reason only they need to survive. Everyone else makes the job easier, but the job can still succeed with Number 1 or Number 2. At least according to whatever data they have that hasn't been shared yet.

@Whispers of Sorrow - I dunno, #2 seems like he can be reasoned with. He actually has words for Noah and is capable of reasoned thought, as opposed to Meathead #1
@Zed - pretty sure it’s because in the fog they could end up walking in circles without Noah
