They're all asleep.

Oh hello additional royal guards.

21656: Idol - Monday, April 6 2020 - 12:23 AM

Is that nail?

21657: Chris E. - Monday, April 6 2020 - 1:08 AM

Hmm, I wonder whether they'll really all be asleep, or whether an alarm (either sound-based or spirit-based) has been going off inside ever since Noah opened the door.
Also, what is the plan for tracking down Malhart? This operation seems like it will alert him that his base is compromised and he needs to find another hideout. Though maybe they hope he will show himself in order to rescue the children.

I just noticed that the Royal Guards actually have identifying masks. That's a nice touch.

21659: Jarin - Monday, April 6 2020 - 1:44 AM

The individual masks have me thinking unpleasantly of Ascians in FFXIV...

21660: Tom - Monday, April 6 2020 - 3:02 AM

Very cool masks.

Except for Nail, who doesn't have one (yet?).

21661: Bisected - Monday, April 6 2020 - 4:17 AM

So Noah was being tested? Surprise surprise.

This sort-of reinforces my theory on the attack on the kids' magic army recruitment show being a move by Veda's Proyect (or the government, maybe) to forcefully recruit them. They create the situation where they are forced to act in selfdefense by any means possible.

I'd even say that the elves were hired by Veda to create such situation. The elves actually thought they were independent in the murder attempt rather than just puppets.

21663: Violet - Monday, April 6 2020 - 8:13 AM

Naaaaaaail.

21664: Some guy - Monday, April 6 2020 - 9:00 AM

@Bisected
Wasn't that the entire purpose of this mission to begin with?

21665: UnknownID - Monday, April 6 2020 - 10:24 AM

"Clean up" doesn't sound very nice... o.o

21666: ANON - Monday, April 6 2020 - 10:53 AM

Yup, I second the fear that the kids will have been warned and they're about to enter an empty room.

But remember: Noah was in there for a while after he got in, so I'm not sure the story strongly supports this outcome.
(Still worried though.)

Nail is carrying a case and is maskless. Perhaps he's an apprentice guard and this is his final exam?

21668: tracer - Monday, April 6 2020 - 3:13 PM

I doubt Malhart installed an alarm for opening the door. After all, there were no enemy magicians here before today, and kids should be able to come and go without getting on each others' nerves.

Now, intruders' detector feels like a reasonable precaution. The question is: just how vain was Malhart? Did he plan for this contingency?

21669: Bins - Monday, April 6 2020 - 6:15 PM

Oh boy here they go killing again

21670: 21668: name - Monday, April 6 2020 - 3:13 PM - Monday, April 6 2020 - 9:34 PM

Why is the doorway glowing?

21671: Just Me - Tuesday, April 7 2020 - 1:32 AM

I just hate teenagers like him not understanding they use him to oppress the obviously freedom seeking / loving others...aaargh.
Wake up, Noah!

Then again, Ciel is not very helpful there either. He's...so...not questioning anything.

Time for Malhart to free that kid and kick royal butts!

21672: The_Squished_Elf - Tuesday, April 7 2020 - 4:51 AM

oh hi nail

@Just Me
I mean, Noah knows full well he's being used to oppress these kids. He also kinda doesn't care that much, considering at least one of these kids beat him up pretty badly recently and nearly murdered one of his friends. Also Malhart and co. have significantly less resources than the empire of Justopea and he knows this is going down either way, the government has outright said it's going to kill him dead if he doesn't do well, and he's got a friend back home who may well be dead already but if he wraps this up quickly he might be able to throw some weight around and save him.
TL;DR Noah has a lot on his plate right now, he questions (and understands) constantly but tries to do as little as possible

21673: ANON - Tuesday, April 7 2020 - 5:11 PM

@The_Squished_Elf

I agree with everything you said except the "he doesn't care that much" part.

He doesn't have anything against the kids at all... there's just nothing he can (productively) do for them.
