Keep hammering him.

In hindsight, perhaps not the best approach.

If I remember right Gazz is actually a trained swordsman. It certainly makes him a cut above the rest.

19939: Yobestboi - Friday, May 31 2019 - 1:13 AM

Goodbye Kyra's leg, its fun knowing you.

19940: Zyzyzyryxy - Friday, May 31 2019 - 2:00 AM

That pool of blood under his foot... doesn't look good.

19941: Tssha - Friday, May 31 2019 - 2:28 AM

Gazz, he can be so disarming. The ladies just fall to pieces around him.

19942: Bisected - Friday, May 31 2019 - 3:37 AM

He and Tobi can form the "seen your friends lose an arm" club.

19943: Tom - Friday, May 31 2019 - 4:04 AM

Gazz really has an edge thanks to his spirit powers!

19944: someone - Friday, May 31 2019 - 5:12 AM

@Zyzyzyryxy

It was there for a pretty long time.

19945: Z - Friday, May 31 2019 - 5:50 AM

@B

He is a trained swordsman which is why I wondered why the empire didn’t provide them with any weaponry, considering spirit magic is heavily augmented by weapons. In any case this looks more like brute force rather than training.

Also that blood coming from her leg looks bad, Gazz probably just took a chunk out of her.

19946: Silver - Friday, May 31 2019 - 10:31 AM

These blood effects remind me of the castlevania ds games...

19947: Bombom13 - Friday, May 31 2019 - 12:57 PM

Can we take a moment to discuss the fact that this city's police are dreadful. I get the empire's lost controll, but this is a loud, violent street fight and they're nowhere near. If this kind of thing happens on the regular, how are the university and infrastructure even still operating?

On the bright side, apparently there's no traffic problems, so that's nice!

@Bombom13

Natasha, the person who was imitating Alex, is now redirecting citizens.

19949: MCRedCreeper - Friday, May 31 2019 - 3:03 PM

Does Gazz perhaps have some kind of pandemonium power that no one is aware of? Like both some kind of ability to learn magic more easily and also something that allows him to do THIS kind of stuff?
It's not out of the question, given that Noah is pandemonium but is considered as a simple spirit user by everyone

19950: Leo - Friday, May 31 2019 - 6:41 PM

@ MCRedCreeper

Spirit Magic acts as a multiplier, so whatever you're good at, it makes you better. Gazz really knows fighting, and is really strong to boot.

19951: The_Squished_Elf - Saturday, June 1 2019 - 12:10 AM

@MCRedCreeper
I doubt it, at least for learning magic more easily, given that Gazz learned all this in the first place because he (literally) couldn't mask to save his life.
I suspect it's a combo of adrenaline, finding something he's actually immensely talented at, and actually being trained to know what he's doing - I'm pretty sure Kyra here doesn't know how to use spirit aside from making her floating morning stars/shields.
At the end of the day, this *IS* a confrontation between teens, and team Noah got training from an organisation dedicated to the study of magic, as opposed to Malhart's street thugs, accustomed to taking out kids just awakening to their powers.

19952: Tor - Saturday, June 1 2019 - 6:39 AM

Gaz was a prodegy from day one when it came to the more direct use of spirit magic. Its only mask he has sucked at. Everything else came naturally to him.

And it only serves to highlight how skilled Gaz is, when the fact is that his training as actually been horrible.

Yes he has been training by an organisation dedicated to the study of magic. One that was just recently founded, who are still in the startup phase, and who quite honestly have shown it sucks at training people.

Malharts students meanwhile, and i think its a gross mistake to look down upon them as "street thugs", looks much more organised, seems to know more about the theory of magic, and comes from an organisation thats 10-20 times as old as the Empires fledgling Magic Soldiers.

Its his students who from the start of the fight knew the spirit weapon technique. And its Malharts students who would have won this fight flawlessly if it had not been because the Empire had 2 Main Character grade magic users. Noah who could read Kyra's technique. And Gazz who could learn it.

(also, that Kyra can make those morning stars already shows she has mastered at least 3 different techniques. Thats more than Noah whom as i recall mainly knows sight and mask)

19953: The_Squished_Elf - Saturday, June 1 2019 - 6:30 PM

@Tor
Those are good points. I had assumed, based on Kyra's reaction to Noah being able to redirect her attacks, that she doesn't necessarily have a lot of knowledge about how to use spirit. They have the stuff you might figure out on your own, and some clever combos, but they apparently don't even know mask exists.

Taking your points into account, and rereading this confrontation, I still stand by my points though. Gazz and co. got reasonably in-depth training on the spirit magic basics, but don't have much, if any, of the combination techniques, whereas Malhart's kids are primarily more experienced, rather than necessarily more knowledgeable, if you follow.
I guess an analogy using cooking would be that Malhart's students have cooked quite a lot, but can only use seasonings and predetermined heat settings, whereas the Empire's students have access to the full range of spices, herbs and temperature settings, limited only by their own personal obstacles and their (lack of) creativity.

I disagree with your statement that Malhart's crew seems to know more about magic theory. Professor Null has been applying scientific rigour, and hiring magic experts from across the darn world to help out with his study. Malhart's an artist with a gang of kids that are experienced at subduing n00bs (and magic-less Royal Guards.). Of course they'd win now, and handily, but they're overall less flexible, and will almost certainly be quickly eclipsed by those with a better understanding of the basics.

19954: Z - Sunday, June 2 2019 - 5:12 AM

If I saw this without any context, I would think that Malharts kids are the good guys here and Gazz is the raid boss that they’re trying to fight. He gets such an unstoppable villain feel here, and I love it.

19955: Ahoaa - Sunday, June 2 2019 - 8:39 PM

I think that glasses has a similar power to the ditzy girl who couldn't use spirit. Like maybe there's a class of null-magic and they share it. The fact that Noah couldn't scan him and the girl, (and that ciel seemed worried that the girl could do something to her) seems like too much of a coincidence.

19962: Cluedrew - Monday, June 3 2019 - 6:06 AM

@Z: Malhart's kids might still be the good guys. Although I hope that Gazz does not end up being a villain that suddenly feels like it might be on the table.
