It seems likely this is bad news for our pirate queen. Maybe Mr. Aristocrat has decided that any deal with her will end poorly [as it likely would. He doesn't seem interested in being #2, and she may not even want him that high.] So maybe he wants to switch sides, by rescuing the iron judge. So he sends Burk to distract the lady while he... which will lead to a confrontation with the diplomat, possibly with both thinking the other is on the lady's side.
I wonder what the Aristocrat's odds would've been against Ariana if they fought it out now?
Seems like Ariara had that super-tech arm plus probably superior spirit-fighting abilities. But now that arm's gone and she's probably exhausted and injured (or do people bounce back really quickly in this world?), the Aristocrat might have a shot at her.
