I'm not sure if the staff is the source or not. As I said before, the judges receive there power from the amulet, but Piper is a relative of the Mage king (his cousin) she might have powers of her own she might not. It could be that she doesn't get power from the staff but focuses her power through it. It could also be that she does get power through the staff and Guy didn't take it from her, but instead caused her to drop it in surprise. In that case, if Mr. Claws here knocked the staff from her hand, he could be in trouble. I think either way, she's going to have to save herself, I'm curious as to how it will go.

Actually, now that i think about it, if Piper has come back to the city, she either succeeded on her mission or failed. Failure seems unlikely since she didn't appear injured so, it's possible she does have help on the way.
@Bappr. It's the "let me shred your throat" that really fails to sell the idea of it being "easier" on Piper.

@Baprr If nothing else, it's probably effective for intimidation factor. Generally speaking, any panicking is disadvantageous to the person panicking and advantageous to the other side. Given how much half the characters in the cast seem to like banter like this, I wouldn't be surprised if it's also a reflexive thing.
I don't think anyone ever took him on this version of the speech, but I suspect for "bring them in alive" missions he has a very similar speech that emphasizes "I can bring you in with any quantity of limbs attached between the number you still have and 0. Don't test me."
I would not be astonished if that version has worked before.
I really hope Pablo makes it out of this situation alive. And in my dream world, I hope that Pudu doesn't, but let's be realistic, here.

Guy probably caught Piper off guard and she dropped the staff. So her only options out of this are the staff having Judge like protections or her family coming in hot or possibly Claws realizing she isn't lying.
