The floating think in the background makes me expect ominous "Join ussss" in a moment from Noah's ark, which would suggest Chernyl wasn't in fact creating the nightmares, just scrying or otherwise contacting this this realm.
While this would be an interesting option, I am quite sure this will not be the case.
....And that's how Valiant turned into a ghoul to save the party.
New theory: They didn't travel or move, the temple exists simultaneously in both dimensions. Kicking the rocks shifted the party to the other dimension, not the Technomancer to theirs.

That is actually really possible. He does look quite ghoul-ish, even a bit like Zalander themselves.

So... did the ruin move... elsewhere shall we say, with them inside? Or is a case of the building being present in more than one place? Moot point I suppose.
Regardless, they're in some deep trouble now, even if the brain is friendly or they're beneath it's notice, it's surely only a matter of time before something terrible happens... back inside for a bit more kicking?

Not trying to be unpleasant here but what's going on, we get 50 to 100 of the other 3 strips now 600 of this new one? Are the others just over, the disjointed story telling was already a bit jarring but now I feel like I've had a never ending cliffhanger for all 3 other stories
Maybe they see the technical side of Matrix. For example the brain-thingy there may be the processor which runs the simulation.
@Welf @Whispers of Sorrow You can refer back to pages 497-502 to see another of these temples in action. I think it's clear by now that the temples exist simultaneously in two worlds at once, serving as a bridge between them.
