The black crystal dagger is still stuck inside the Hallowman, and even if Nail has more black crystal on him, getting up and using it before the Hallowman can start trouncing him again seems unlikely.

You know, Zyzyzyryxy's comment made me think. Has Noel or anyone else ever confirmed that disabling Chernyl's power will actually make the nightmares go away? For all we know, it will just stop spawning further nightmares, and we'll have to beat up the rest by hand.
Admittedly it would be pretty weird for him not to mention something like that, but still.

Well, reading back through a bunch of his lines, I can't find any instance of him EXPLICITLY saying that but he does IMPLY it a lot. So while black crystal doesn't seem to do much against Hallowman directly, touching Chernyl with it will likely dispel him.

@HexaDoken He specified that after Malhart blocked Chernyl's power, he then had to defeat the rest piecemeal. I don't think Noel himself knows what happens if *Noel* disables Chernyl's power... considering how Noel's esper abilities work, it could easily be "Noel can actively bring about whatever outcome he wants, provided he puts enough time and effort into it."

The hallow man doesnt seem worried about Chernyl getting murdered by being strangled to death, which seems to point to some trickery being afoot.
