The monster responsible.

I wonder if you can get executed for barfing?

Brace!

30367: Ele - Saturday, February 26 2022 - 3:16 AM

I really hate to say it but... he's not entirely wrong? (for now at least, let's see where this lead).

30368: LiuNora - Saturday, February 26 2022 - 3:29 AM

It's weird, but I find myself siding with the military police here. In the sense that I think Chernyl should be killed, not in any other sense, to be clear.

Malhart was criminally irresponsible in letting her live. Sure, it was the military and specifically Veda who shut down his powers and directly caused this. But how long until Malhart died anyway? He was old, what if he died from natural causes one day? The results would be the same.

Unless they know a way to permanently remove Chernyl's powers, I'd say that leaving her alive seems criminally negligent, considering the amount of deaths she can cause. She is like a ticking time bomb, except the bomb in question is a nuclear one, capable of killing millions.

Not lying in this scenario means telling them what they expect you to say xD

If #1 shoots Noel we riot.

30371: TaranAlvein - Saturday, February 26 2022 - 5:14 AM

You can in my fantasy kingdom of Rrl, if they think you're mocking the name!

30372: info - Saturday, February 26 2022 - 6:16 AM

something horrible is definitely about to happen to that nauseous guy

30373: Eight - Saturday, February 26 2022 - 8:21 AM

Just aim well when barfing. Should surprise, blind and irritate the JSP. Shoot the other one with a crossbow. And a silver bullet. And cold iron. And acid. And Holy. And decapitate them. Burn the remains. Oh, did I get carried away?

30374: Violet - Saturday, February 26 2022 - 8:54 AM

Something worth considering is that they don't actually have a way to confirm any of this. All they have is the answers they expect to be true, and possibly the ability to read his body language and facial expression.

But if Noel's a good liar, and he tells them what they want to hear, they'll probably just buy it. I'm not sure what either side is thinking right now, so I guess I'll just see what happens.

30375: Sporf - Saturday, February 26 2022 - 9:25 AM

Ah, so I was wrong about the Jsp being quite as ready to grab power at the moment (though that could still happen when this is done) This also means that they expected Malhart to kill Chernyl when they hired him. The question is why would it matter if Noel doesn't want to kill Chernyl. He can't really stop the others from doing so.

30376: Questionable Intent - Saturday, February 26 2022 - 10:03 AM

While the JSP may be right in the decision to kill Chernyl, they would be idiots to think they can do this without Noel. Only reason the plan to get rid of Chernyl instead of just nuking the whole place happened, was because they had a way to get to Chernyl with Noel. Even if they do go with Noel’s plan, he probably can not do much on his own once Chernyl has been disabled so the JSP could probably just kill her afterwards.

30377: TaiLiu - Saturday, February 26 2022 - 11:47 AM

I’m surprised that people are saying that Chernyl should be killed! Poor kid. Malhart did the right thing.

30378: Some guy - Saturday, February 26 2022 - 12:30 PM

@Eight
No, no, go on. There's still some options left, like quartering. Your choice if you burn them first or after.

30379: Thursday - Saturday, February 26 2022 - 1:51 PM

*suddenly starts worrying the secret police will begin thinking they can control Chernyl using black crystal*

30380: nullum - Saturday, February 26 2022 - 2:43 PM

@TaiLiu
Yes, Chernyl (presumably) doesn't deserve to be killed... but nor do the countless innocents who've died horribly because she was spared. Killing Chernyl for having a power she never asked for and can't control isn't a good solution, but it might have been the best one nonetheless.

30381: Paintr - Saturday, February 26 2022 - 3:43 PM

Are we actually sure a nuke can even Kill Chernyl? Her constructs are incarnate as they are, and at least one of them can phase into the ground an unknown distance...
Though we also don't know how much they'll defend her.

30382: Brilliand - Saturday, February 26 2022 - 3:59 PM

Lina Veda's plan was not to kill Chernyl - it was to control her power, and use it in service to the Empire.

This revelation would counter the JSP's argument quite effectively, however I think Noah and Nail are the only ones aware of it.

30383: TaiLiu - Saturday, February 26 2022 - 8:32 PM

@nullum: Right, but only from a utilitarian point of view. I'm not a consequentialist, so I wouldn't agree.
