Don't be mistaken.

I mean the judge has a point.

Also, who be smashin' up dem girders?!

13571: Whispers of Sorrow - Monday, July 31 2017 - 12:25 AM

The judge is an evil so and so who was going to set Moe loose on the World, just to keep the rightful King of this domain unjustly imprisoned. Also, he gained his authority via nepotism, after a relative ruthlessly sized control of the area by force of sorcery. This is the most blatant case of 'do as I say, not as I do' that I could possibly imagine.

As for the knocking? Enter the Guy?

For some reason, I feel like I want the person who's smashin' up the girders to be Shifter Mo. Just because I want to see him in this fight.

OMG!

It seems Burks stupid plan might actually come though? He got his wizard guy. He got a villain to vanquish.

And now i suspect that Guy for some weird reason is going to barge in and help Burk, as his "Cool Guy"

GOLEM SMASH!(or the aristocrat whichever has better comedic timing)

"...be offered a nice cup of tea so she'll surrender peacefully."

@ Whispers of Sorrow: I disagree. First of all, the Judge is a second in command to an Emperor.

Secondly, the Emperor is most likely a rightful ruler in and of himself, he just conquered the neighbouring countries to make himself an empire. Honestly, the fact that he didn't outright murder the previous ruler/s like most conquerors do is, comparatively, praiseworthy.

Thirdly, the Judge didn't release Moe The Shiftier. The general (I don't actually know his name, the red haired soldier captain, who I assume has the rank of General) did.

Fourth, Moe wasn't released to capture the King, it was to deal with the ENTIRE Prisoner Escaping Issue that he had to deal with, preferably starting with Ariara, who he didn't actually know was as dangerous as she is yet.

13581: Zed - Monday, July 31 2017 - 7:42 AM

Well technically, Moe was released to be a part of the prison riot in the first place. It only made sense to get Moe on their side rather than fight an opponent he (the general) couldn't beat.

Its obvious that as soon as the whole ordeal was over, they would address the problem that is Moe inevitably rampaging under the guise of a hero.

who cares if Burk cant "finish" this ? Look at him, he's having the time of his life, a worthy opponent ! This is probably what valhalla looks like to him !

13583: MisterWizard - Monday, July 31 2017 - 3:47 PM

Alright, I gotta know. How the hell did Ariara get captured in the first place?

13584: Darius Drake - Monday, July 31 2017 - 6:17 PM

@ MisterWizard: The Baron flew out to her ship and fought her there, probably while flying with his talisman-granted unlimited amount of magic. Depending on the type of magic that the Baron used to use (before he was turned to gold), the trick Ariara used on the Judge may not have worked on him. So long as he kept his distance, he could have been able to defeat her at range, even if only by exhausting her magic reserves. Particularly as she couldn't fly at the time.

Alright, I'm going to take a shot in the dark here. Bucket of water splashed over her from behind into strangled from behind until 'naptime', no concerns about lost braincells

1: Magic is dampened by water.
2: Her power allows her to circumvent this for a travel power by simply going -over- it.
3: She is still technically mortal, and while her shields are strong and she can probably struggle like all hell, if you cut off her access to oxygen, she's probably taking a nap.
4: You can then submerge her for transit, leaving enough access to oxygen for her to be able to breathe when she wakes up.
5: Maintain multiple mages/shifts of mage-like entities to maintain her prison so she can't just punch through it.

Ta dah? The main flaw in the plan is how they stop her from leaving the prison. I think a part of it was they managed to disable her arm as well, which I'm curious as to how they figured out how to do.

As you can see, the Judge serves someone known as 'the Mage King', you can't have a mage king without first having magic. And the power of the priest and the mage barons/baronesses appears to be linked directly to his.

The local populace aren't at all happy about having their own King overthrown, not the least because of the creepy weirdo of an overlord who's been imposed on them by sorcery.

As for Moe, as shown, the Judge gave the general full authority to do what he did. And you know, why not ask the magic using girl to help them deal with Moe, psychotic murderer extraordinaire? As opposed to using Moe to hunt down petty criminals and political prisoners?

@Zed: Going back on their word doesn't rally make them look better.

13592: Whispers of Sorrow - Tuesday, August 1 2017 - 12:20 AM

@MisterWizard: I've been wondering about that myself. It may have been perfidy, the Mage Baron could have backstabbed her during a negotiation. Or it could be she and the Baron has some scheme going on, requiring her to pose as a prisoner, that fell apart on his death.

Then again, maybe the Baron was able to just teleport her directly into a cell via a trap of some sort or other? It's hard to believe brute force was involved, I know that much.

@Whispers of Sorrow. The king also freed Moe and was also going use him in his escape, thus unleashing Moe upon Heroland. The "creepy" mage Baron is the one who captured and imprisoned Moe as well as Ariana. Obviously Heroland has issues, but I don't think I would call the Judge an evil so and so regardless of how he got his job. He's just trying to deal with the situation that's handed to him as best he can. He didn't send Moe after regular political prisoners. He's got soldiers and the general for that. He tried to get Moe to deal with Ariana (before he realized who she was obviously) He likely figured that Moe would never be able to be a Hero, but they can always send real Heroes to deal with him afterwards if needed. Or just kill him once the castle thing is all done, it's not like Moe wouldn't deserve it.
