How does the Judge even plan on restraining Ariara? Is he even going to try to restrain her at all? Or is he going to keep going until she's worn out?

11473: giovanni - Wednesday, December 28 2016 - 4:55 AM

well, that judge is certainly powerful
more powerful than the pirate of the storm?
it does feel so

11474: Browser - Wednesday, December 28 2016 - 5:26 AM

I thought it was odd that I'd entirely missed a day somewhere... Now I know why I got two notifications for a new page!

11475: Tom - Wednesday, December 28 2016 - 6:01 AM

Damn, the special effects budget has no end! :D

I want to point out that Ariara hasn't called out her attacks ONCE so far. She seems to be the smartest of the magic-users so far :v

I like that the Judge doesn't just have "I kill you all" powers just because he's powerful. Clearly he's less about firepower and more about trapping/disabling.

Also, he keeps trying to capture Ariara even though she's super dangerous.

What a nice surprise!
That last frame looks like it's leading into a *looks into the camera as if it's The office*

11478: J - Wednesday, December 28 2016 - 6:26 AM

Heh, feel free to post tired more often.

11479: wkschull - Wednesday, December 28 2016 - 6:41 AM

@Tom

I always figured that calling out the spell names is part of casting the spell, in line with the Verbal spell components from Dungeons and Dragons. It may not be that they are calling out their attacks, but that they need to name the spell on order to cast it.

And Ariara is using something more akin to magical potential, where she isn't using spells, so much as using her power freeform, hence no need for spell names. Like how Noah doesn't need to call out "mind invasion" or whatever he would call it, since it isn't a spell, but a magic power.

The Judge is so fed up with the general incompetence of his subordinates that he HAD to create a "Corrective Slap" spell.

11481: Neoriceisgood - Wednesday, December 28 2016 - 6:59 AM

@WKschull

You're correct, from what I remember the only character in the comic to currenlty call attack names purely for unnecessary aesthetic reasons is Pablo.

11482: DatDat - Wednesday, December 28 2016 - 7:15 AM

This made my day. Thank you.

11483: Zed - Wednesday, December 28 2016 - 8:44 AM

Looks like we're back to where we started!

11484: Bisected - Wednesday, December 28 2016 - 9:35 AM

He has no time for your self sacrificing nonsense today, Captain.

11485: Jack Morgan - Wednesday, December 28 2016 - 10:18 AM

@Neo

I dunno, I think Pablo has to call out the names or he'd face losing his career. Mastery of the Diplomatic Weapons, and all that.

Also, killing the General wouldn't have helped at all, I don't think, short of incinerating his entire body. She only has control of his armor, and he just happens to be trapped in it.

Aaaaaannnnddddddddd, I've caught up after binging the entire night!

This is one of the most artistically and narrative engaging webcomic I've seen so far!

Also, I found this comic from a TV tropes page (forgot which one), and my life is in your debt for saving me from that black hole, my liege!

11487: Neoriceisgood - Wednesday, December 28 2016 - 11:06 AM

@Jemm

Glad to have you on board & you're enjoying the ride so far!

11488: Bob - Wednesday, December 28 2016 - 3:16 PM

The high profile Iron Judge uses the word "gonna"?!

11489: Neoriceisgood - Wednesday, December 28 2016 - 3:36 PM

@Bob

That should be "Going to", you're right.

oops. :p

11490: harison86 - Wednesday, December 28 2016 - 10:02 PM

He didn't wait for her to finish talking.
I love it.

11491: LunaticCultist - Thursday, December 29 2016 - 1:04 AM

Ariara's arm got me thinking. No other magic-user so far has had anything like it. Earlier we saw that she couldn't do any magic while her arm was in the metal cast; this might mean that all of her magic/magical potential is contained within that arm. Since no other magic-user we've seen has anything like it, it might mean that it's not a natural thing, and could've been caused by some event.

Chopping an arm off is a barbaric method of punishment, but in this case...
