I'd wager its more that spirits are more vulnerable. Something akin to a projection vs their true body.

Even if she starts losing, she can hold out until the flames kill them both. There's no winning for the parasite.

Given that Evyle has her arm back it might be a mixture of both strength and vulnerability.
