I'm sure some reference is just slipping by with Burk's "Prove your worth."
Also... Alfen just bloomed, from the ground, such is the miracle of life.

You've seen him stab a man clear through the arm at range (Page 1700) and he can apparently teleport does that not count?
25768: Storm - Thursday, May 13 2021 - 2:32 AM
Hard to guess how smart Burk's being sometimes.
Is he acting like that for shallow reasons, or is he covering for selective information-gathering? Or maybe a little of both?

For once I approve of Burk's logic over the one of the rest.

Burk probably thinks there's a chance he's part of the conspiracy. I mean, he does know a lot more of what's going on than the rest of the heroes, and he apparently can turn invisible/teleport at will. There's reason to suspect him.
25771: The Obvious Answer - Thursday, May 13 2021 - 8:54 AM
This is Burk we’re talking about. He just wants to see what else Alfen can do.

@Storm I suspect after page 898 that Burk has an innate ability to predict future events, or at least act on instinct as if he does. I just can't tell whether he obfuscates stupidity to arrange events to happen a certain way, or he really does "wing it" all the time and it happens to work.

Remember, Burk knows a lot. He just has very odd priorities most of the time. It's smart to make Alfen at least do what everyone else did.
25774: Whimbrel - Thursday, May 13 2021 - 10:11 AM
Burk demands a show of musculature
25775: Aston Whiteman - Thursday, May 13 2021 - 11:25 AM
When exactly was nightshades real name released as Alphen?
25776: Jack - Thursday, May 13 2021 - 3:24 PM
@Aston Whiteman
Earliest I could find was page 1370
where he introduces himself to Burk and says he prefers to go by Alfen Finnegad. Don't know when Pablo learned it though.

@Jack none of those things suggest that he jiggles, ripples, or glistens when fighting. Then again, if Burk is allowed to let, uhh, the second contestant in, then I don't see why Piper isn't allowed to let Nightshade in, even if Nightshade would prefer the invitation to come from Burk.

@Aston Whiteman: He said his name to Burk on page 1370. I'm not sure when the other two learned it, though.
Huh. I didn't even think of Burk potentially being able to see the future, but now that you bring it up, that's not impossible. Maybe that's why he failed to notice the obviously talking cat in his earlier investigation? Maybe he saw that it would be bad to confront it directly.
