Goddamn it... It just occured to me that if Guy was a bad guy, I'd totally fall for his machinizations purely because of the fact that he's likable.

You don't have to be evil to be shady. I never thought Guy might be evil. So far, he's been nothing but professional. He's taken what, from his viewpoint, would the correct course of action, and nothing more.
A lesser man might have simply walked away after Piper attacked him.
