I'm horrible with names, but didn't the pre-reboot comic have a lot of dead people when the school (and or palace?) was attacked? The one with the kid who could do magic and the hilarious drunk

That's why I used the term "on-screen deaths". I think we only saw one person actually die on screen during that arc.
