This just occurred to me, but the watch post that she's stationed at is so much more well designed than the old one.

Is the platform with chains an elevator? I thought the whole idea of airships and guard posts was the lack of elevators or ladders, so the intelligent monsters can't invade them?

Well the elevator does require activation from within the guard post.

Airships also help get to the outposts without running into monsters.
