And I thought they had picked it up from the local flea market.
But.... if there are thousands of books of omens, why are they worried about prophecies stopping after a certain date? Maybe they only got the first volume batch?

The books are getting more and more mysterious.

"Storm of Ships"? That's an... unusual name.

The storm of ships is one of the omens! I hope we learn more about the original "infamous ship". Also, it seems its imitations were not perfect if there is a different book in each.

It's not impossible, but presumably the sampling of books they managed to recover would be completely random and not conveniently ordered. If they only had one or two books, "just happens to be the first volume" would be a reasonable guess, but twenty five books of a random spread all stopping cold on the same year strongly indicates a pretty worrisome pattern.

On top of that, from how it sounds, the individual books contents don't seem to be chronological. Needing to be thoroughly combed through to piece together any kind of timeline of events, otherwise they could just flip to the back end of the books and just read the last prophecies.
I imagine the ships ARE the original infamous ship, but from alternate but converging future timelines, and the books that are at least found in the ships are all true because our current present reality happens to be the point where all futures resolve, creating one cogent past.
I feel like this is the case because the prophecies can be altered and diverted if enough people observe them. The outcome changes because we added energy to them instead of letting their effects stay the course. It feels very quantum the way his magic system works.
The fact that the books' silence at 2377 is repeatable means that either the world ends, which means no comic so not going to happen.
OR
There's a complete fundamental change in reality where all the omens are no longer compatible with probable verity as we know it which Zalander has mentioned:

Reality constrains Magic, but a tree can only burn for so long before it is ash.
