Maybe their thing is that they copy appearances of people, so the Blue Evile spirit that showed up was actually the Blue Burk spirit helping?

Burk's spirits are Burks, Evyle's spirit is her own. Burk refused their help and they didn't show up again during that fight. They admire him and wouldn't do anything without his permission too, so I don't think there is any place for any off-screen help from their side.
