The real question is: will they be able to run Doom on it?

I just went back to Tobi's story. I wondered if Held's companions end up in Tobi's world. But the Tobi's grandfather has a different name (Baku), and a different personality, and so has his friend, Delhara. And they have a bunch of magic tools they understand, so they are obviously not just former students.
But maybe they end up in a different world? Unless they just all die, except Held.

Let's get some volunteers! Jasper, why don't you go first?

So that was Zelmeyers plan all along: to train little batteries for this 'machine'.
Lets see: They will step on these panels, where they will be trapped by a forcefield and drained out of their energie. :D

...How are you getting this from "surging stones are the power source"?

@Welf
Since this is a different temple from the one Tobi came out of, it probably goes to a different game world.

@someone I believe they're basing it off the fact that the name "surging stone" seems to be referencing one of the fundamental spirit abilities - Surging.
Surging being the way one pushes their spirit outside their body, I believe a surging stone would do something very similar - Pushing spirit outside of itself, and thus probably providing the pads with power that way.
Which means it stands to reason that a person could replicate the effect by surging. I don't think that'd kill them, unless the pads can somehow force them to keep surging, but there is still the reality of spirit recoil when doing so.
