I respect Valiant for telling Held that she shouldn't make major life decisions based on stuff like just wanting to be closer to someone she idolizes. If he was a person with less integrity, he totally could've encouraged her instead and abused her crush on him for his own purposes and agendas (like trying to win her over as another person fighting under Vallance's banners for example).

Valiant seems to b a really decent guy.He took care of here when she was bullied, he is smart, curious, a better teacher than Zelmeyer, and he gently tells her to not just pursue his dreams but to think for herself.
So I guess he will soon dien a very brutal death that will traumatize her for life. We know Held will be around 40 years old when she catches up with the timeline, and I doubt she will have a family.
