I've got whiplash from going back to how Theo looks like in the present.

That "would be a blast" feels... idk, revealing? It seems like for all Clockmaker is nice enough here, he's a little too eager to see violence or suffering. It's not "would be something to see" or "would be a legendary event", or even "would be exciting," he says "a blast."

Forgive my absent mind: is Held the paladin?

Not even remotely. Even if we gave up on the name, so many physical characteristics don't match up.

Eh, he could just be speculating in the sense that Leroland's been mega-dead for a while, but it would have been nice for him to dead way earlier.

Also, Paladin Shalhia is an Esper, while Held uses Spirit Magic.

@ Cellphone: Honestly, we've seen that Purpermane has fire magic, which is regularly associated with explosions because of how people perceive Fireballs, fire being used to detonate gunpowder and fire sometimes being seen as a residual effect of explosions in both movies and, sometimes, reality.

So if we assume that Walter Leroland has some other magic commonly associated with explosions, such as Wind, something that can explode, like Water, or some magic that actually makes explosions, like bombs, then Clockmaker's words could be interpreted as him just making a pun.
