Faster than a speeding bottle
Even if your character's only expression is "smug", you can still give him various different expressions, even if all of them are smug.
For example we have;
1. smug
2. conceitedly smug
3. smug and self-absorbed
4. smug with class
5. smug and distracted
6. smug and thinking
This advice has not been directed at anyone in specific.

These last few pages have been the funniest thing I've seen in a webcomic in ages.
I can picture Noah being a noir detective
Noah, the master of the smug.
If Noah were a Pokemon, he'd have to be a Snivy. So much smug, he could choke you to death with it.
So much delightful smugness. He's even smug when he's confused. Which he has, as yet, not been.
And Eloy is such an amazing drunk. Almost seems to have magical powers that allow him to maintain contact with booze. :) Keep up the awesomeness. (And yes, this is a perfectly good reason for you, neorice, to put on your smugly smug face and act smug.)
I bet his special power is being smug. Or he's a seer/oracle. Possibly in search of employment, even. >_>
