You know, you could do the entire "dead parrot" skit with Noah as the parrot, and it'd play exactly the same, except plot twist: he's really not dead, just being his usual hyperpassive self.

As excited as I am that Gazz is finally back, the fact he's still using a metal pipe makes me a little nervous... that along with his spirit being a different color makes me think he has potential to be a flawed nightmare recreation of the first time Noah saw him use Elegant Weapon.

While there is no concrete statement regarding it in the comic, I think sensing spirit requires more feelings to sense and color is just the only way possible to represent it on screen.
Since Noah recognized Gazz spirit a few pages ago already it should be safe to assume there is nothing wrong with it.

1. It was established that Gazz was in the hospital
2. The situation isn't completely defused, stuff is still bad but there's no immediate danger at least
3. I don't care, Gazz is here and I will stan him until I die

Aren't most RPGs the same way though, to be fair? You either slowly recruit your permanent band of conveniently varied retainers, or you hop around coalescing whatever useful teammates are available at that location.
