They Had to!

That awkward moment when your friends decline help.

We really are just now seeing the main character in the comic, after 1800+ strips.

25241: Baprr - Friday, April 2 2021 - 8:12 AM

I fully expected Noah to get bubbled offscreen...

25242: Baprr - Friday, April 2 2021 - 8:24 AM

@Zed, Burk's been here since strip 22.

Catz feels a bit like Ariara in that way. Powerful and interesting, with a load of neat tricks. Tendency towards being overkilled out of the continent remains to be seen.

Time for the 30 minute win juice???

25245: Agent_Cook - Friday, April 2 2021 - 1:14 PM

Can you spell "leeroy jenkins"?

25246: someone - Friday, April 2 2021 - 4:46 PM

@Baprr: Noah is so inert that the spirit cats will just assume he's already bubbled.

Main difference between Catz and Aria being, that Catz is a genuine hero. Risking his life to try and save his friends.

I know that we are all thinking that Veda is some gigantic monster that can handily defeat Catz, but how practical is that? She has been disappearing people off-screen, but melting people feels like something that would take time and thus lack stopping-power. She also likely wants to capture Catz and may well prefer to let the kid escape and maybe catch them later than off them now for a easier but less satisfying win.

She probably doesn't want to show off what she can do in front of the children. Then again, maybe she does, this certainly looks like a good time to show off while the political officers are indisposed. A chance to share secrets with the children and nobody else, for however long it takes for the information to spread...

P.S. It feels like the feline arc is drawing down. It is time to brace for the daily updates to end. We have been spoiled and grown decadent, let us not succumb to a false deprivation of our own making.

It's really hard not to root for Catz in a situation like this one... of course, it's equally hard not to always be rooting for Veda to get justifiably kicked in the shins...

@someone
Nah, they just mistake him for scenery.

Based on Veda's behaviour she most definitely has some sort of plan for this situation, though. Even if it might just be bluffing through it.

Do your job Jam boy, turn back from the dark path of Windows.

The trouble with Catz is, well, his/her friends were the ones who started with the kidnapping (Alex is still missing, mark that) *and* they put one of the magic sprogs in hospital. Worse, the empire is reforming, so it's become vital for the wellbeing of future generations of magic users that Malhart is defeated. So, while Catz clearly means well...

Also, calling the empire's magic sprogs "peons" was probably a mistake on the recruitment front. It does suggest that word of the elf attack they repulsed isn't widespread though.

25252: Lanth - Saturday, April 3 2021 - 2:43 AM

@noname and yet it feels like Veda's smugness is going to stay for a long, long while

25276: noname - Sunday, April 4 2021 - 7:48 PM

@Lanth Oh, definitely. She's the closest thing the Noah arc has to a Big Bad after all, and I fully expect that to be her role.
