D-28

What did you think it stood for Burk......

22657: Fan - Sunday, July 12 2020 - 10:47 AM

I can think of a few. None of them are nice.

22658: Storm - Sunday, July 12 2020 - 11:10 AM

Wow, sounds like there may be thousands of White-Star heroes/rookies! (For example, if it's 10 groups, each with 250 rookies, then that'd be 2,510 White-Star heroes/rookies.) And given that White-Stars seem to be a minority of the total.. well, Heroland may have a *LOT* of heroes!

Further, as Nightshade pointed out, the rankings can be pretty arbitrary, so there's a lot of room for diversity and surprises in such a large population, too!

On a funny note, Goldman's argument about Burk not being able to win-by-default seemed pretty silly.. specifically because if he managed to convince Burk that it wouldn't work, then what? Seems like he was basically trying to convince Burk that Burk should punch him in the face!

22659: Chrones - Sunday, July 12 2020 - 12:18 PM

Obviously he was thinking of the coveted D-28 dice, and didn't want to bore the audience with his nerdy spiel.

22660: Tom - Sunday, July 12 2020 - 12:24 PM

Hah, never expected Burk to have a naughty mind.

22661: Storm - Sunday, July 12 2020 - 2:15 PM

Dunno what's so "inappropriate" about Model D-28 Battle Ready Armor (D-28 B.R.A.).

Maybe armor's against the rules in exhibitionist matches?

22662: Deliverance - Sunday, July 12 2020 - 2:33 PM

@Storm
Goldman's "our group" of which he is ranked 28th appears to refer to the group of white star hero rookies in general, where this is an impressively low number since there are hundreds - not to a group consisting solely of the white star hero rookies following his white star. So the letter is his hero, the rank is his standing amongst the followers of all the white stars.

As such we are merely talking hundreds of rookies rather than thousands.

That's still a lot, of course, but we know that heroland provides its hero-services for many nations (http://www.neorice.com/hoh_burk_1349)

22663: Pheristroch - Sunday, July 12 2020 - 3:19 PM

Alright, taking all bets:
A) Burk runs out the clock while Goldman humiliates himself
B) Goldman loses by accidental ring out
C) Goldman loses by technicality
D) Match is disrupted before properly finishing

22664: Tor - Sunday, July 12 2020 - 3:50 PM

Hmm.. it could actually be read either way. Its hard to say if the group refer to Heroland, or to the heroes in the Power Pomp Group.

22665: A Loquacious Theorizer - Sunday, July 12 2020 - 6:33 PM

E) Pablo shows up.

22666: Storm - Sunday, July 12 2020 - 6:36 PM

@Pheristroch:

I'll go (A). Partially because it seems foreshadowed.

I mean, in the above comic, Goldman's got a good point.. he may have a lot of fans in the audience, plus his team's there. Without looking further into it, he's got a decent basis for believing that he'd win a vote.

But back in, (www.neorice.com/hoh_1573) the public-relations girl warned "having Wurm publicly ensnare young girls is guaranteed to be a PR nightmare". And then Goldman interrupted the prior exhibition match in a particularly rude way, dismaying both sides. And now Burk's making a fool of him.

Dunno how Goldman's point may've fared if not for what Wurm's doing, but it seems like someone could just point out that Burk's fighting to free the grossly ensnared girl to win over the crowd, if they truly did like Goldman enough beforehand to overlook the other stuff.

22667: Sporf - Sunday, July 12 2020 - 6:58 PM

I'm not actually seeing many pompadours in the audience,Mr Goldman but then I'm not 100% on what that is. I'm assuming it's the tubular hair, but I'm prepared to be wrong about that.

22668: Luminous Lead - Sunday, July 12 2020 - 7:51 PM

Are White Star Rookie Heroes different from White Star Heroes?

22669: Woodledude - Sunday, July 12 2020 - 8:00 PM

Oooh, a betting pool! I'll go with [A], and put down 27 octillion HeroBucks.

... I may go massively in debt, but maybe the hyperinflation from my bet will make it easier to get back out of it.

22670: Umbra - Sunday, July 12 2020 - 8:11 PM

Storm with magic everywhere we can assume there would be a lot of minor magic users ones more like cop level if you get the idea or "hero"s that are more specific and not much on the grand scaling. like one surgeon who can shrink themselves and can make precise surgeries. not Much in the hero scale but still useful

22671: Nitrotetrazole - Sunday, July 12 2020 - 8:22 PM

Burk finally about to show Goldman 1% of his true power :P

22672: Darius Drake - Sunday, July 12 2020 - 8:33 PM

And here I was suspecting that Burk thought that it was inappropriate to suggest that a guy had defeated a mere 28 Dragons in his duties as a Hero. It's embarrassing both because it's so low, and due to the fact that most people don't believe Dragon's Exist, and thus try to keep quiet about it.

22673: nonyerbiddness - Sunday, July 12 2020 - 9:25 PM

bet burk wins because goldman took damage from the escape.

22674: Mike - Sunday, July 12 2020 - 9:35 PM

"Inappropriate to say on stage"... that counts as a clean hit, right?
