Why am I thinking of the trope called, "Super-Powered Evil Side" or perhaps, "With Great Power Comes Great Insanity"?

@Nathan400 I think this would be rather on the "With great insanity comes great power" side of things.
Power->Insanity only counts when the insanity is caused by the power.

I am hoping this is not the beginning of Gazz's decent into evil. I mean maybe I am over reacting but I agree that sword looks evil and I have faith in Neorice that that isn't an accident. But maybe I am misreading this entirely.

I mean, that LOOKS cool, but I give it 50/50 on it being effective or not. (Bet it'll be rather extreme either way.)

And now I'm waiting for not a simple brain hemorrhage but for either a). Gazz's head to explode or if we're really really lucky b). he's possessed/turns into some kind of horrible eldritch horror!

And thus begins Gaston's ascent to lichdom. This will solve at least the problem of haemorrhages, if not more.

Power is based partially on emotions in most systems of magic, this one is no exception.

They've just placed the ultimate 'fight or flight' situation MOMENTS after the poor guy discovered his own 'fight' potential. He's helplessly outmatched by individuals who, ostensibly, killed two of his friends, and are far more experienced then him and who also outnumber him.

This is the sort of moment that's going to cause a burst of adrenaline and freakout, paranoia, survival instincts, and all sorts of 'cornered animal' responses. He's not being given an option of 'flight', only fight, so of course he's going to go hard...and I think they don't realize that those sorts of survival emotions are far more terrifying then they give credit, even without magic powers, such emotions can turn a mouse into a mammoth in moments, let alone something that has power that -directly- scales to how enraged it is.

@Dubu: Noah is the epitome of the reluctant hero, his entire personal value systems is centered around the need to not do anything, or if really forced to do something, then do the absolute minimum least he can get away with.
